Autumn 2025

Kai x Nimue

This combination didn't occur to us until I started brainstorming with a friend. I told her I was sad Kai would be too closely related, because he was exactly what I was looking for for Nimue. When I run the pedigree analysis, I found out it actually was an option to use him.

Using my own stud dog is a deliberate choice based on his qualities and potential. He has a lot to offer for our breeding program. He is the dad of two litters, his first litter (2018) had 1 boy and 1 girl. His second litter (2021) had 2 boys and 3 girls. I'm very happy with every single one of those pups, they've all been healthy and have lovely characters. One even won BIS, another one won 3rd BISS with limited showing.

As Kai is getting older, this might be our last chance to use him in our breeding program. We love using an older stud, a stud that proved to be healthy, stable and beautiful.
Although the COI based on the pedigree 5 generations might be a bit higher than most breeders would go for, we are confident in our choices. The COI in 10 generations is still comfortably under 10%, plus we're super familiar with his lineage.

This decision is not about convenience but about making a thoughtful and informed choice to enhance the breed's future.
However we think it's sad Kai hasn't been used more often, we will probably retire him from breeding after this.

Winter 2025

Ivar x Uni

Ivar is a beautiful moderate boy. We used him as stud for our Light-litter, but sadly there was only one puppy and she had a mild cleft lip. Other than that, Ivar doesn't have any offspring, which is a shame.

Ivar is getting older and while we normally would wait for the first pup to be at least 18-24 months old (so we can evaluate more accurately) , we simply might not have the time for that. Ivar will be 10 years old at time of mating and his semen might not be viable anymore. But we're going to give it a try and hope for more Ivar-offspring!

Uni had FHO surgery when she was about 4 months, she has an abnormal gait due to her right leg being shorter. So her knees developed incorrectly. She has PL1/2 and after talking with several vets (including specialists) and breeders, we want to have a litter with her. We're actually quite confident the pups won't get any issues with their knees, but if you're considering a pup from this combination, please keep in mind you will be required to do a PL test at an orthopedic vet when the pup is old enough. We will pay for that of course.
